Winter/Spring 2024 Guest Demo Artist Schedule
The Chemainus Art Group is thrilled to host a guest artist at our monthly Meet-Up on the 2nd Wednesday of the month. It's always inspirational when our guests talk to us about their work, do a demo or lead a work-along. Here is what we have planned for the Winter/Spring season.

January 10th 2024 - Shirley White
Shirley is a self-taught artist based out of Nanaimo, BC, Canada who creates wonderful alcohol ink artworks. Shirley loves to explore the myriad of ways you can shape alcohol ink and embellish it with brush work, gel pens, acrylic paint and other artistic tools to produce many unique and original paintings. There are many methods and tools that can be used with this medium and Shirley has explored many and found her favourites. Shirley will be walking us through her process at this months meet up and fielding any questions you might have about the upcoming workshop on January 26th.
February 14th 2024 - Dennis Brown
Working in acrylics Dennis will discuss his process when working with abstractions
March 13th 2024 - Zann Hemphill
In this demo Zann will demonstrate her process for a small oil-on-canvas pet portrait. She will show how she uses negative space and angles to define the outline, and how to locate "wayfinding" features like eyes and noses without having to measure or grid.
April 10th 2024 - Marylou Wakefield
Marylou will be demonstrating mark making and journal note taking
