Winter Spring 2026 Guest Demo Artist Schedule

Our Demo Artist Meet Ups are for members only,  but we welcome new members at any time. For more information on how to become a member please click here.

The Chemainus Art Group is thrilled to host a guest artist at our monthly Meet-Up on the 2nd Wednesday of the month. It's always inspirational when our guests talk to us about their work, do a demo or lead a work-along. Here is what we have planned for the Winter Spring 2026 schedule.

January 14th 2026 with Claudia Lohmann

Intuitive Alcohol Inks

In her demo, Claudia talks about how she develops her alcohol ink paintings. She shows samples of her work, walks us through her process and discusses the materials used.

Claudia is mainly known for her abstract acrylic paintings on wood and canvas that feature geometric shapes in intricate patterns, and bold colours in daring combinations.

In her alcohol ink painting, Claudia uses a more organic approach to shapes and forms, which is an intriguing counterpoint to the imaginative-geometric-abstract style for which she is well known.

They are adorned with intricate designs, collaged elements, distressed textures and mark making.

Collage Landscapes

In this demo, Silvina shares her full process for creating expressive collage landscapes — from gathering inspiration to layering the final touches.
She demonstrates how she moves from an idea or feeling about a landscape into an abstracted composition using paper, color, and texture.
She walks us through paper selection, color harmony, tearing and layering techniques, and how to build depth with foreground, midground, and background. She demonstrates how rhythm and mood can guide your choices more than realism.

In her upcoming workshop, Silvina offers participants a behind-the-scenes look at her own creative decisions and methods, inviting them to explore collage, texture, and intuition to create art that tells their own story.
