Meet-Up Guest Artists 2020 Winter/Spring
The Chemainus Art Group is thrilled to host a guest artist at our first Meet-Up of every month (2nd Wednesday of the month). It's always inspirational when our guests talk to us about their work, do a demo or lead a work-along. Here is the line-up for the first part of the year. Visitors are welcome.
Cold wax with oil
March 11 - PATT SCRIVENER
Patt works in many mediums including acrylic, encaustic and cold wax with oil. Her work includes imagery of people, landscape and abstraction. The layering of a variety of media offers a myriad of possibilities within her work; colour, line, and texture all play a role within her imagery. Her work is about the process – she loves layering, scraping, sanding, pouring and dripping. She uses many unorthodox tools and loves visits to the hardware store! Patt facilitates workshops and a mentorship program in her Parksville Studio and is a Signature member of the Federation of Canadian Artists. View Patt’s work at www.pattscrivener.com.
Water colour and "loose" en plein aire painting
April 8 - JANICE EVANS
Janice creates paintings that interpret her strong appreciation of the Pacific Northwest environment where she lives and works as a full-time artist on Vancouver Island. Her focus is on the atmosphere of this area, inviting the viewer to participat and connect with the visual power of the land and sensuality of the landscape and works mainly in water-based media as an 'en plein aire' painter. Oil painting
May 27 - HILARY FARMER
Hilary is an artist and architect who lives on Gabriola Island and works primarily in watercolours, ink, and oil paints. Oil painting has become a creative and freeing expression for Hilary and she often paints alla prima, creating a painting in a single session. To do this, requires concentration and decisiveness. She loves a vibrant palette to brighten and communicate joy to the viewer. View Hilary’s work at www.hilaryfarmer.com. Note: The date has changed from May 13 to May 27, the second Meet Up of the month.
