Seascapes in Soft Pastels with Bev Herriott

I plan to share my techniques for soft pastel in a drawing featuring Long Beach - which will be half done, one side finished and other showing my base drawing and completed in the demo. I hope this will demonstrate my steps and how to do each one. These include blending and layering, and tools used such as blenders, pencils, and of course fingers! I will also touch on my experience on the different brands of pastels and papers and will have a printed outline of “my rules of drawing” for everyone.

Materials Needed

A set of Soft Pastels (not oil), which can be student grade.

Some conte or pastel pencils in black, white, maybe browns or sepia.

A white Staedtler Mars plastic eraser and/or a kneaded eraser.
