Fall 2024 Guest Demo Artist Schedule 

The Chemainus Art Group is thrilled to host a guest artist at our monthly Meet-Up on the 2nd Wednesday of the month. It's always inspirational when our guests talk to us about their work, do a demo or lead a work-along. Here is what we have planned for the Fall 2024 season.

September 11 2024 - Tylor McNeil

In this demo, Tylor McNeil showcases his approach to oil painting, demonstrating how he arranges his palette and maps out his canvas to maximize the potential for a successful painting. Drawing from 25 years of experience in oil painting, Tylor aims to address any sticking points artists may encounter in their own artistic journey and assist them in mastering the art of oil painting.

October 9th 2024 - Nadine Wong

Nadine Wong specializes in crafting handmade books and journals, meticulously sewn and bound using a number of techniques and a diverse selection of materials such as book board, book cloth, and a variety of hand created papers.  Her journals are adorned with intricate designs, including collage elements, distressed textures and mark making.  During her demo, Nadine will showcase several of her works and provide insight into her creative process.

November 13th 2024-Mary-Ann Gordon

In this demo, Mary-Ann Gordon will speak on ‘the positives of negative painting’. Negative painting is an effective and dramatic way to introduce depth to your work. Join her in exploring a little of the history of negative painting and watch as she demonstrates adding depth and visual interest to a watercolour painting.

Mary-Ann has indulged her passion for watercolour for close to 40 years, and is always excited to share her knowledge and enthusiasm with others. Her work has metamorphosed from extremely representative interpretations of nature, landscape and flowers to freely intuitive work designed to evoke movement and emotion.
